Today, CBS released the first images of Melissa Benoist as the Girl of Steel in the upcoming TV version of Supergirl. 



The costume is evocative of the comics versions, mainly from the 80’s-90’s era, but with colorations that give a nod to the more recent suit designs in the Man of Steel film. The internet seems to have picked up on similarities to costumes from the CW’s shows Arrow and The Flash, with good reason- the costume was designed by the same person responsible for Ollie and Barry’s crimefighting duds. 



Since this show has been described as a police procedural, one does wonder if we will see any super-powered criminals or other costumed vigilantes running around, but for now, we’ll have to be satisfied with this glimpse into the future of DC’s maiden of might.
