“In A Wonderful State of ‘What’?”
Associated Geekery Episode #93 is alive and ready to entertain your earbuds!
This week there was some news, and we’re discussing it.
In Movies, rumor has it that Marvel Studios is thinking that the best person to play an old Tibetan mystic was a white woman. While we’re all for gender swaps, changing races like this is a huge step backwards.
Meanwhile, the internet decided that #WeWantWidow. A great campaign that shows that demand for Scarlet Johansson’s Black Widow is out there, and Marvel is stupid for not getting behind her.
Over in TV land, more casting news- this time for CWSeed’s Static Shock. Confirmation of Fresh Princeling Jayden Smith for the title role. Time will tell if he’s the right guy for the job.
But not all is harps and halos for Fox’s Lucifer. Seems that One Million Moms are not happy with the depiction of this devilish character and want Fox to drop the show altogether. Creator Neil Gaiman has something to say about that, too.
But there’s good news for Marvel’s animated shows- all new characters are coming along with returning old favorites on both Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble on Disney XD. Familiar faces like Miles Morales and Agent Venom and fantastic all new characters like Kamala Khan and Carol Danvers!
Finally, in Comics- we discuss the announcements and preview images of the All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe- and a surprisingly weird bit of merchandise that made us scratch our heads.
